The Spotswood Borough Municipal Court is located at 77 Summerhill Road, Spotswood NJ 08884. The hours of operation for walk up business and telephone inquiries are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The telephone number is 732-416-1842. Court sessions are conducted on the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. and on the third Tuesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. Honorable Edward H. Herman is the municipal court judge in Spotswood who will decide all factual and legal issues in your case. Lori Kartelias, CMCA, is the Court Administrator who oversees daily operations of the violations bureau. You should also know that a violation that is a first, second, third and fourth degree crime cannot be heard in municipal court other than for initial arraignment. The reason is because these types of matters are felonies that fall outside the jurisdiction of the municipal court. Common examples of crimes within this realm are heroin possession, cocaine offenses, aggravated assault and burglary. Cases such as these can only be heard at the Middlesex County Superior Court.
