How will my criminal charge be handled if its a crime of the first, second, third or fourth degree?

A crime of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th degree is always indictable so it must be dealt with at the Superior Court in New Brunswick. You will not typically be required to appear in Edison Municipal Court because charges of this nature fall outside local jurisdiction. An initial appearance at the county level is provided, in most cases, at the time of processing or in the nail shortly thereafter. All proceedings that are thereafter conducted shall be at the county courthouse.
